Cheryl heads up the Education and Youth Programs team and oversees PF’s magazines. Born amongst the corn fields of Illinois, she most enjoys the prairie ecosystem, hence her enjoyment of pheasant hunting. She has been an advocate for getting kids outdoors and connected to nature her entire career. She’s worked for natural resource agencies in Missouri and Pennsylvania and for the National Wildlife Federation before coming to Pheasants Forever. She and her husband live in Hudson, Wisconsin, and enjoy canoeing, fishing, bicycling, gardening and about anything outdoors.
Why isn’t every pheasant hunter a member of PF?

I just don’t understand why so many pheasant hunters, 2 million of them in fact, are so short sighted. I hope their vision is better when they are shooting the birds!

As you think about fall, check out the September and October youth hunting events that are happening in your area. PF chapters around the country sponsor a host of events in the fall. Half of the fun is planning the adventure – so enjoy. I’d love to hear what you come up with too.

As you dream about fall hunting season, please think about taking along a younger person or neophyte to share your hunt. Watching that person enjoy the day, the land, and the experience may actually be more fun than what you bring home in your game vest.

PF just hosted a workshop for volunteers to learn how to get youth more involved in the outdoors. It was so much fun to see how interested and enthusiastic the volunteers were to learn more. I learned that today’s younger generation is also really into volunteering. Do you volunteer in your community?
