A Salute to Volunteers

Those attending the workshop could learn how to use a GPS to get kids interested in exploring outdoors.
I just got back from Lansing, Michigan, where we held our third Focus on Forever Workshop for chapter volunteers interested in doing youth programs in their communities. What a great weekend! I always come away from events like this in awe of the dedication of our PF and QF volunteers. While many of the attendees were from Michigan, we had people drive in from Kentucky, Iowa, Ohio and other states. They spent 20 hours during the weekend learning the real meaning of mentoring and how to put on quality programs. They were interested, enthusiastic and they cared! I also learned something new. Did you know that the generation called the Millenials (born 1981-1999) are into community service? They are volunteering more than previous generations. That really gives me hope for the future! Are you a Millenial? Write and tell me if you volunteer and for what. I’d really like to hear how you are involved in your community.
