Dog of the Day: “Scout”

For 14 years, “Scout,” a Lab/shorthair mix, was Ann Byers’ best friend and hunting buddy. “We shot more pheasants together than I can count.  Her most memorable point and retrieve hangs on my wall, and countless memories will always be in my heart,” Byers says. “A couple weeks ago I said goodbye to Scout and hope she’s hunting pheasants in heaven with my dad and uncle.” Byers, a district conservationist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, is a member of Iowa’s Osceola Pheasants Forever chapter.

I had a tear in my eyes as I thought of several of our dogs we had to say goodbye to. They become so much a part of our family. Sorry for your loss.
